Ellen DeGeneres and her wife of 16 years, Portia De Rossi, have shared a heartbreaking announcement.
The couple first met in 2000 and began dating in 2004. When same-sex marriage was made legal in California, they married in 2008.
In interviews over the years, the couple have shared how they bring out the best in each other and how they support the other.
Sadly, they have now shared the news that their beloved rescue dog Augie has died.
Taking to Instagram on May 16, Ellen shared the heartbreaking news.
She wrote: “We had to say goodbye to Augie yesterday,”, “We rescued him 12 years ago and he was so grateful. He gave us so much love. He will be missed. There will never be another like him.”
Fellow celebs and followers were quick to share their condolences. Courtney Cox wrote ‘
’ while Andy Lassner wrote ‘I loved that dog’.
They also have two other dogs, Kid – a Poodle-Maltese mix and Mrs Wallis Browning, a purebred Poodle and two cats, named George and Chairman.
